Overview of Course

The course is to give young people the tools to get “Ready for Work” which is funded under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work. Young people from the age of 15 to 24 years are eligible for this FREE course and who identify with any of the following circumstances:

  • Ineligible for Australian Government services or assistance
  • Require complementary services because they have significant barriers to learning and employment
  • Have accessed Australian Government services for more than 6 months and remain unemployed
  • School students can access this course if are at risk of disengaging from school, have minimal barriers to achieving employment i.e. they only require minimal assistance to successfully transition to work and do not have access to other forms of job search assistance

The course is based on job search assistance and will include training in:

  • Resume preparation and writing
  • Job interview skills
  • Job search advice, including where to look for work, how to apply for work and understanding employer expectations
  • Networking opportunities with local businesses and employers who will share their experiences and industry knowledge – Guest Speakers will include CEO Anne Stovin of Currumbin RSL, General Manager – Amery Burleigh, Sofitel Broadbeach, Training and Development Manager – Natasha Pearson, Village Road Show Theme Parks, Human Resource Manager – Jane Jamieson, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Connecting YOU classes which covers, attitude, values, ethics, morals, confidence and self-esteem, valid thinking and behaviour, goal setting and commitment
