Diploma of Hospitality Management 2017 – SIT50416
Aim: The aim of this course is to utilise the “Higher Level Skills” funding in which we have a contract under the Vet Investment Plan for 2017.
For students to access this funding they must be a QLD resident, over 15 years of age, no longer at school, be a Australian or New Zealand resident and MUST not have or be enrolled in a Certificate IV or higher qualification.
Course overview: This course will provide students with the essential skills in management and leadership, communication and customer service, operational planning, financial management, teamwork and develop business relationships.
They will be exposed to a well-rounded course including food and beverage operations and event management. Students will also have the opportunity to network with leaders in the Hospitality and Tourism industry.
Students will take part in the P & O Tourism, Hospitality and Events Study Tour. This is a 7 day experiential tour. During this tour students will have the opportunity to take part in various activities including, back stage operations and show, shore excursions, galley tours, wine appreciation, ice and vegetable carving and much more.
Course details: the course consists of 28 units, 13 core units and 15 electives.
Duration: 40 weeks, 3 days per week, 9am to 3pm
Industry Placement: working with our industry partners the 36 industry shifts that are required to complete this course we hope to offer a wide variety of placements to the students. These partners include: yet to be confirmed

Payment Plans: Payment plans will be offered and will consist of an upfront fee paid at enrolment of $500.00 with the option to pay balance of 6 monthly instalments.

Resources Required: set uniform of 2 white shirts + black pants, 1 Ignite shirt – prices of these not yet available but trying to source items so they come under $200.00 per student.
Devices Required: Students will be required to bring their own Laptop with Microsoft office.
Travel Requirements: If under 18 students must have full permission from parent or guardian. Students must hold a current passport.
